Demolition of the deck over the conduits and north sidewalk has begun as part of the ongoing Bridge 51 project on Central Street in Woodstock Village, according to the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans). Construction activities can be expected on weekdays between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Local businesses along U.S. Route 4 on both sides of the work zone will remain accessible to pedestrians crossing the bridge via the south sidewalk. Flaggers will be present to assist drivers and pedestrians through the work zone.
A three-week bridge closure will begin April 16, with the bridge set to re-open May 7. The project is due to be complete in June.
See our April 5, 2018, print or e-edition for our latest coverage, and check out our next edition coming out on April 12 for detours and other details on the upcoming three-week closure.
