In an epic wind storm, which featured winds of up to 65 mph from Wednesday night into Thursday morning, a portion of a massive tree on Mountain Avenue broke off and rammed into some electric wires (instead of hitting a nearby home), knocking out power to most of the neighborhood. The power to the lines eventually had to be cut for the situation to be addressed.
On Thursday, a crew from Green Mountain Power was on-site for about 6 hours getting the wires freed. Power was back on at 9 p.m. Thursday. A crew from Chippers cleaned up the tree matter later on.
