Taftsville Bridge Damaged

Taftsville’s iconic covered bridge sustained minor damage Wednesday afternoon when, according to witnesses, a black pickup truck towing a white camper came through from the Quechee side and struck the overhang (shown above). The truck and the broken camper then left the scene of the accident headed eastbound on Route 4 leaving a trail of white insulation every few hundred yards. Woodstock Police Corporal James Otranto said Wednesday a search of area campgrounds came up empty, and the state
police put out a “be-on-the-lookout” message. As of Thursday morning, the culprit had not been caught. (Eric Francis Photo)
