On Monday, October 5, 2015 at 2 p.m. an informational kiosk was erected and dedicated on property abutting the Green Mountain Horse Association that is known as the Upway Farm Trailhead in South Woodstock off Morgan Hill Road.

The trails are on private property owned by Thomas Debeviose III and Laurie Livingston of Woodstock with an Upper Valley Land easement allowing trail use. Currently most of the public is not aware that the trails are open for hiking, riding and winter sports. The informational kiosk and trail markers will help to direct people where to park and use the trail.

Collaborating on the project were the Green Mountain Horse Association, the Upper Valley Land Trust, VAST, the Windsor County Board of Realtors, and Carbee’s Total Home Care for the design, building and installing of the kiosk. Funding was provided through a grant from the National Association of Realtors in conjunction with the Windsor County Board of Realtors. Representatives from all the listed organizations, with the exception of VAST, were in attendance at the dedication ceremony. According to Dana Waters,

“This was an ideal opportunity for three local nonprofits and a generous landowner to work together to accomplish something that would benefit the community. The Placemaking Grant offered by the Realtor Association provided the funding the organizations were looking for since 2011. The public will now know this pretty trail, along the brook, through working landscape and into the woods is open for all to enjoy.”
