Mold closes Prosper Valley School; students to go to WES

POMFRET – The start of the school year has been delayed for Prosper Valley School students, due to mold discovered at their school. The school, located along the Pomfret Road, serves Pomfret and Bridgewater.

Due to the mold issue, Prosper Valley students will start the school year on Tuesday at Woodstock Elementary School, according to Superintendent Mary Beth Banios. The mold in the Pomfret building is not toxic, but will require weeks – perhaps months – of remediation before the Prosper Valley School is ready to open its doors. School officials are in the process of getting bids from contractors for that work.
