_____________________________________________________________________________________________
The three-week closure for the Bridge 51 project on Central Street in Woodstock Village is beginning on Monday, April 16, and lasting until May 7. This bridge replacement project is scheduled to be complete in June.
Here is the Bridge 51 update sent out by the state on April 6:
During the closure period, traffic will be maintained on offsite detours. New stop signs will be installed on Elm Street heading north at the intersection of Pleasant Street, and on Central Street (US Route 4) heading east at the intersection with Pleasant Street and Central Street. Please be advised that traffic will not stop for cars traveling east at the junction of Pleasant Street and Central Street. The map below depicts the location of the new stop signs. This change will provide increased safety and assist with traffic flow throughout the duration of the detour.
Pedestrian Detour: US Route 4 to Elm Street, Pleasant Street, Bond Street, back to US Route 4 (0.4 miles)

Local Detour (.56 miles): US Route 4 to Elm Street, Pleasant St, back to US Route 4. The local detour route is not appropriate for trucks due to the geometric constraints and the volume of traffic on US Route 4.
Route 4 Detour (39.7 miles): US Route 4, to VT Route 12, US Route 5 (VT Route 12), VT Route 44, VT Route 106, back to US Route 4
White River – Rutland Truck Detour (55 miles): Rutland to White River: US Route 4 east, to VT Route 100 north, to VT Route 107 north, to Interstate 89 south.
White River to Rutland: Interstate 89 / Interstate 91, I-89 north to Exit 3, to VT 107 south, to VT 100 south, to US Route 4 west.
Parking on US Route 4 between Mechanic Street and High Street on the south side of the road is no longer available. Parking from High Street to the Post Office driveway on the north side of the road is no longer available. Meters are bagged and no parking signs have been installed.
