ASCUTNEY –A chimney fire was quickly extinguished after a neighbor reported heavy, black smoke coming from the chimney of the mobile home next door.
“I pulled into my driveway…and saw heavy black smoke coming out of the chimney” said Suzanne Simonds of Ascutney. She alerted homeowner, Avis Vigneault and the fire department was called. Ascutney Volunteer Fire Department and West Weathersfield Fire Department responded to the Stardust Circle mobile home and discovered that a recently installed heating system had failed.
No injuries were reported and the homeowner was planning to spend the night with friends or relatives.
