Now in its 34th season of presenting fine chamber music the Killington Music Festival takes much pride and pleasure in announcing its concert schedule for 2016. On Saturday evenings from now through July 30 the internationally acclaimed musicians of the Killington Music Festival will perform at Rams Head Lodge at the Killington Resort at 7 p.m., last concert at Killington Peak Lodge. During the Music in the Mountains Classical Concert Series they will also teach, guide and mentor the young aspiring musicians from around the country and abroad.
The following is the schedule for the festival:
• July 2, “Double the Treble, Double the Fun” — all aspects of KMF’s curriculum are combined into one challenging orchestra performance to maximize your entertainment.
• July 9: “The Winds beneath Killington’s Peak,” the wind faculty joins the strings in Brahm’s soaring clarinet quintet.
• July 16: “Killington’s Catch,” we will be performing Schubert’s beloved Trout Quintet and the program will conclude with a KMF premier in Glazunov’s lush cello quintet.
• July 23: “Good Old KMF Lovin,” a potpourri of composer favorites from the past seasons, including Dvorak and Mozart.
• July 30:, our season’s finale “Just FOUR you, on Killington’s Peak,” KMF’s 34th season culminates on Killington’s Peak when KMF co-founder joins KMF’s artistic director and other faculty members to perform works by Liszt, Puccini and Dvorak.
The concerts are held at Rams Head Lodge at the Killington Ski Resort at 7 p.m., the season finale is held at Killington Peak. Tickets are available through the box office at 802-422-1330. Advance tickets may be ordered by phone through the day prior to the performance.
