WHITE RIVER JUNCTION – A fugitive sex offender who had been missing for nine days was recaptured Saturday afternoon at the edge of downtown White River Junction.
Dale Adams Jr., 28, was arrested at gunpoint on Connecticut River Road at 3:15 p.m. by Hartford Police Sgt. Jason Pedro just moments after Sgt. Pedro saw Adams drive past him in a pickup truck.
Adams has been transported to the Hartford Police Department where he will be turned over to Probation & Parole officers who will take him back to the Springfield jail, Hartford Police Acting Sgt. Tom Lyman confirmed.
Adams had officially been placed on escape status by the Vermont Department of Corrections on the morning of May 9th even though probation officials said he had not been seen since the evening of May 6th when he failed to return to the approved residence to which he had been furloughed in Perkinsville.
State Police said that Adams was being supervised for a sex offense and was considered to be in the “high risk” category to potentially commit another related offense. He is expected to face a criminal escape charge in connection with this disappearance in the weeks ahead.
